The Lake District is an amazing road cycling destination. Hundreds of miles of quiet country lanes, short, sharp, steep hills, lovely little villages for life sustaining tea and cake and glorious views. However, don’t expect an always sunny Euro climate and pristine tarmac roads.
If you’ve never cycled in the Lakes before let me provide you with either a guided or self guided day or two. Rides can also be fully supported with mini bus back up to carry extra clothing, drinks and snacks to keep you going for the day. I can run trips around the famous Fred Whitton Round over 1 or 2 days that will see you climb, and descend, the most famous of the Lakeland passes; on the best Sportive circuits but without the crowds; around the Bay from Glasson Dock to Barrow (transport provided to start and from the finish on this one) or on a journey of a distance and type to suit yourselves that may have us only seeing a handful of vehicles in a day. Please enquire for details of road cycling services in the Lake District.
Road cycling days in the Lake District are all bespoke bookings but also watch out for advertised rides here or on the YJCH Facebook page. Prices start from £25 per person per day (assuming a group of 4) for a guided ride to suit. These rides are intended to be ridden at a leisurely, moderate pace, at around 10-12 mph. Self guided rides, ride at a pace to suit your groups ability. Haven’t got a bike? Road bikes can be hired locally. Please enquire for further details about road riding in the Lake District.
